WILDCARD The "Wild Card" option allows for issuance
of ANY valid DOS Command at the PC-Wizard
Manager's Command Line.
Command Mode: In PC-Wizard Manager's normal Command
Mode, the user selects the desired command
by either pressing an <ALT-Letter> combin-
ation that corresponds to the menu command
or pressing the <Up> and <Down> arrow keys
until the desired command is highlighted.
As each command is highlighted on the menu,
detailed instructions on purposes, syntax
and option "switches" (including examples)
for that command are displayed. The user
can then scroll through each page of these
instructions by using the <PgUp> and <PgDn>
arrow keys. When the user determines the
way that the command is to be issued, based
on examples provided, the command can then
be initiated by pressing the <ENTER> key.
As soon as <ENTER> is pressed, the command
that was highlighted appears on the command
line and waits for the user to complete the
command by typing in the desired parameters
for the command. (The screen that contains
the description of that command will remain
displayed to assist the user in ensuring
that the proper syntax is used.) After the
command is properly completed, the user can
IMMEDIATELY execute the command by pressing
the <Enter> key. The results of the command
will appear on the screen and at the bottom
of the screen a message will appear that
shows the actual command that was executed
and instructs the user to "Press any key.."
to return to the PCW Manager Main Screen.
WildCard Mode: In the WILDCARD mode the user can issue
ANY valid DOS command without restrictions.
After selecting the "WildCard" option, the
user will receive the same prompt as would
appear while at the DOS level and can issue
commands at this prompt in the same manner
as they would from the normal DOS prompt.
(This includes executing program commands,
batch files, any DOS commands that are not
included in your version of the PC-Wizard
Manager, etc.) The only difference being
that PC-Wizard will automatically clear the
screen after each command is executed and
return you to the menu instead of leaving
you at the cluttered and distracting screen
that is so typical of DOS.
